Toddling Time

Someone is walking. All the time now. It has been a little hard on me. I am not ready for him to leave babyhood. At least he isn't crawling around getting his pants and hands all dirty at the park anymore. I was so done with that.

Here are some pictures of the proud buddy.

And one of him being in love with my parent's dog Thunder.

I am pretty much obsessed with this kid.

The Fall Blues

I have been a lazy blogger. I guess it's because I really have been in sort of a funk for that last month or so. I wasn't sure why until Landon reminded me that I get this way almost every year. It is because of fall. It turns out I really don't like fall. I love summer. It depresses me every year when it leaves. It doesn't help that we live in a total summer town. Things just feel happy here in the summer months. Everyone dons their flip-flops and ride around the strand on their beach cruisers. Everyone looks tanned and healthy. I just love everything about it.

It is odd because most people are posting how much they love the fall and it's bounties. I just can't agree. Aren't you going to miss the barbecues and the watermelon? The swim suits and the popsicles? The days being longer and the elastic waist skirts? Hmmm. I am already dreaming of next year.

At least I'll have Christmas to ease the pain.

How Cute Are My Boys?

Camille

She is running Cross Country this year. Can you believe the hair on this girl? It might be thicker than mine!

P.S. She is basically the best aunt ever!

Lost Tooth

Jolie lost another tooth this weekend. One of her front tooth. The next day the one next to it got really loose and has moved over into the middle! It is hilariously funny. I have to admit I really want to pull it out of there! She is such a funny girl.

Also Reese is half walking half crawling. It is sooooo fun to watch!

New Tricks

Standing and taking 5-6 steps.

Going down the stairs. (this frightens me but he is soooo pleased with this he does it all day.)

Being a super model. (I knew I shouldn't have let her watch Project Runway with me.)

Thanks for all the well wishes. This week was much much better. No screaming fights between Jolie and myself. Not such a whiny Lucy. And a happy happy baby boy. I do have to amend my post from last week because it turns out Reese had Roseola so he had every right to be cranky. I feel kind of bad about being so frustrated with him but oh well! I am loving life again!

Just A Quick Vent

Lately,

Jolie is scared of everything, above all being alone. She has to be in the same room as a grown up at all times and occasionally wakes up in the night screaming about a bad dream. After we comfort her and make her feel safe, she REFUSES to go back to bed. Last night I spent part of the night on the floor of her room. She also resists all homework. It is a fight every day. She yells things like, "I hate you." "You are the meanest mom ever." "I wish I was in another family." It is exhausting and even a little painful.

Lucy is either happy and sweet, or yelling and screaming and whining.

Reese is cranky ALL THE TIME. He just got over a little flu bug but that is no excuse for wanted to be held a.l.l. d.a.y. He is on the verge of walking and I know he is just frustrated but it is still hard!

Okay, now for something positive about my kids.

They are darling when they want to be. And we really do have fun together as a little family. I wouldn't trade them for any kids, no matter how well behaved. I need to repeat this to myself 50 times a day to remind myself. It is true. I love them to death.

I hope next week is better.

Picky Picky

I knew at some point I was going to get one. It was too easy with the girls. Jolie will eat anything I put in front of her. Her favorite foods are tomatoes and pesto! She doesn't even like candy or chocolate. Lucy doesn't eat quite as well, but it is no problem finding healthy things she will eat.

Then Reese came along. There are basically 5 things the kid will eat: fruit (any kind), buttered toast, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, and milk. Oh and goldfish crackers. And sometimes he won't even eat those things, if he isn't in the mood. Getting this kid to eat is sometimes impossible!

(Obviously he didn't like his birthday cupcake I so carefully made for him.)

When I force him to eat something new or a vegetable this is what I get.

Yesterday I gave him freshly steamed corn on the cob, smothered in butter. Nope. I had to force it in his mouth and hold his mouth shut and he still didn't like it. This is so not fun! He better grow out of this.

What is a mother to do?
